Overview
Trained in clandestine combat from childhood, the Jinyiwei were masters of the 14 Blades; eight being for torture, five for killing, and the last blade reserved for suicide when a mission failed. An elite force of secret agents with a license to kill, the Jinyiwei devoted their lives and lethal prowess to the service of the Emperor alone. When the Imperial Court is taken over by evil eunuch Jia, the best of the Jinyiwei, Qinglong is assigned to steal a list identifying those still loyal to the Emperor. However unbeknownst to Qinglong, the Jinyiwei have fallen under the control of Jia, and during the mission Qinglong is betrayed and barely escapes with his life. Now as the most wanted man in the land, Qinglong must seek out and rally the loyalists to rise against Jia and restore the Emperor to power. In his way are the deadliest assassins in the land, his former brethren, the Jinyiwei.

“องค์รักษ์เสื้อแพร” เป็นหน่วยลับหน่วยแรกในประวัติศาสตร์จีน ผู้คนทั่วแผ่นดินต่างขยาดกลัวด้วยร่ำลือกันว่าเป็นองค์กรที่เต็มไปด้วยยอดฝีมือ หน่วยองค์รักษ์เสื้อแพรเป็นรูปเป็นร่างขึ้นในช่วงต้นของการผลัดเปลี่ยนราชวงศ์ จัดตั้งโดยฮ่องเต้ จู หยวนจางผู้สถาปนาราชวงศ์หมิง ด้วยความที่มีพระราชประสงค์ในการควบคุมดูแลหน่วยงานต่างๆ ในราชสำนักให้รัดกุมยิ่งขึ้น พระองค์จึงมอบหมายให้หน่วยองค์รักษ์เสื้อแพรทำหน้าที่ปกป้องจักรวรรดิภายใต้ราชวงศ์ใหม่ กลุ่มราชองค์รักษ์ของฮ่องเต้จึงกลายเป็นหน่วยงานนอกกฎหมายที่มีความสำคัญยิ่งยวด ในการปฎิบัติการลับต่างๆ ทั้งล้วงความลับ ลอบสังหาร ค้นหา และทำลายผู้มีแนวโน้มเป็นภัยต่อสถาบัน พวกเขาล้วนเป็นเด็กกำพร้าที่ถูกเก็บมาจากข้างถนน ถูกฝึกฝนวิชาชั้นยอด และมอบมีดทั้ง 14 เล่ม องค์จักรพรรดิทรงครองครองอาวุธสุดยอดของพิภพ และมีหน่วยองค์รักษ์มืด ที่มีอำนาจประหารสั่งฆ่าโดยเด็ดขาด ซึ่งหน่วยองค์รักษ์มืดนี้เป็นเด็กกำพร้าที่ถูกเก็บมาฝึกฝน เพื่อให้ไร้ความปราณีและสั่งสมสัญชาตญาณนักฆ่า โดยองค์รักษ์แต่ละคนจะได้รับอาวุธประจำกายเป็นมีด 14 เล่ม โดย 8 เล่มแรกไว้สำหรับทรมาน อีก 5 เล่มสำหรับสังหาร และมีดเล่มสุดท้ายเป็นมีดเล่มที่ 14 สำหรับฆ่าตัวตายเมื่อทำงานพลาด…
ต่อมาทั้งราชสำนักตกอยู่ภายในอิทธิพลของขันทีกังฉินเจีย เมื่อชิงหลงและเสียนอู่ สองสุดยอดฝีมือของหน่วยงานองค์รักษ์มืดถูกมอบหมายให้ไปขโมยรายชื่อของผู้ที่ยังจงรักษ์ภักดีต่อองค์ฮ่องเต้ ด้วยเลห์กลของขันทีเจีย เสียนอู่จึงหักหลังชิงหลงและเพื่อนร่วมตายทั้งหมดได้ตามไล่ฆ่าชิงหลง ทำให้เขาต้องหลบหนีและแสวงหา
แนวร่วมที่ยังจงรักษ์ภักดีต่อฮ่องเต้กลับมากู้บังลังก์….
